Peter Tillessen (born 1969) typifies the younger generation who have graduated from the photography class at Zurich School of Design. Their work is not only soundly crafted but reflects a special relationship between author and subject. Indeed their original approach to composition and colour is immediately recognisable, Tillessen himself employs these principles in a set of 22 photographic tales portraying the humdrum and the surprising in the life of a Swiss city and the idiosyncrasies of its residents. He does not hesitate to challenge popular clichés about Zurich with gentle irony.
